Copper Peptides Before or After Shampoo?

After. A leave-on serum goes on clean skin, and shampoo would simply wash it off.
The more useful question is how wet your scalp should be, and most people get that part wrong.
Dry, not wet
The habit of applying scalp products to freshly washed wet hair comes from styling products, where wet application helps distribution through the hair.
You are not trying to distribute through hair. You are trying to land a dose on skin. Water works against that in two ways:
- Dilution. A water-thin serum meeting a wet scalp is simply diluted.
- Runoff. Wet hair carries product away from where you aimed it, down the shaft and onto your neck.
Towel-dried is fine. Dripping is not. If you can rough-dry for a few minutes first, better again.
The full order on a wash day
- Shampoo, focusing on scalp.
- Conditioner on lengths, rinsed thoroughly off the scalp.
- Towel dry, or rough dry.
- Part the hair and apply the serum to the scalp.
- Work in with fingertips.
- Style as normal.
Conditioner rinsing matters more than people think. Residue left on the scalp is both a common irritation cause and a physical layer between your serum and skin.
If you do not wash daily
Most people should not, and the serum is once daily, so these schedules do not line up. That is fine.
Apply daily regardless of wash day. On non-wash days, apply to a dry scalp as normal. There is no requirement to wash first.
The only adjustment: on day three or four of unwashed hair with heavy product buildup, the serum has more to get through. If your scalp feels coated, that is a sign to wash rather than to apply more.
Dry shampoo
Worth flagging because it is common and it works against you. Dry shampoo leaves a powder layer specifically designed to sit on the scalp and absorb oil. A water-thin serum applied over that is not reaching skin.
If you use dry shampoo, apply the serum first, let it dry fully, then dry shampoo on top. Or better, apply the serum on a wash day and use dry shampoo on the days between.
Co-washing and no-poo
Same principle. Whatever your routine, the serum goes on the cleanest, driest scalp you can arrange, and nothing occlusive goes on before it.
Morning or night
Either. Pick the one you will keep. Consistency across a full cycle beats timing.
One practical note: if you apply at night and go to bed with a damp scalp, some of it transfers to your pillow. Let it dry down first, which takes a couple of minutes.
The short version
After shampoo, on a towel-dried or dry scalp, never soaking. Rinse conditioner off the scalp properly. Apply daily whether or not it is a wash day. Serum before dry shampoo, never after.
